Packard keeps it in the family

Packard Bell has unveiled its latest multimedia PC family range with prices starting at u1,199 (inc VAT).
Exclusively available through DSG stores, John Lewis and Allders, the retail giant is supplying all models with a handheld infrared remote control.
The cocktail of specifications, peripherals and software bundles includes a Pentium 166MHz-based PC, three systems with six speed CD-ROM drives and a communications card featuring modem and answerphone.
Bundled software has been selected to prick the conscience of parents, with titles like Asterix Teaches French, Bailey's Bookhouse and Microsoft Encarta 95.
The top of the range model, the Executive 918E, carries an RRP of u2,799 and has a 2Gb hard drive and 16Mb RAM.
