SIS unveils new motherboards
Products aimed at Intel and AMD desktop and mobile chips
Silicon Integrated Systems (SIS) is to release four new motherboards for Intel and AMD desktop and mobile processors. The company will also launch a new graphics card to compete with Nvidia's GeForce2 MX range.
The SIS 735 and 635 desktop motherboards are designed for AMD and Intel chips respectively, and feature DDRam and PC133 SDRam memory support, an ATA 100 interface for hard drives, AGP4x graphics support and six USB ports. The motherboards also feature an internal V.90 modem and Ethernet card, as well as space for up to six PCI cards.
The company also said it will release the SIS 740 and 645 motherboards with integrated graphics and improved AGP bandwidth for AMD and Intel chips in the third and fourth quarter respectively.
ASUS, Abit, Gigabyte and ECS are among the vendors signed up by SIS to develop the boards which are expected to launch from mid-July at prices from £80.
Finally, SIS has released details of its 315 graphics card. Available in DDR and SDRam flavours, the mid-range card will be AGP4x compatible with 32Mb of onboard Ram and a 256bit texture and lighting 3D graphics engine. It will compete head to head with Nvidia's GeForce2 MX200 and 400 cards.
