Perkins returns to Steljes fold after three years

Former business development head returns to distributor to grow interactive solution sales

Martine Dodwell-Bennett: Perkins has the experience to go on growing Smart product sales

After three years in other roles, Wayne Perkins has returned to education distributor Steljes as head of business development.

According to Martine Dodwell-Bennett, group sales and business development director at Steljes, Perkins will now work on developing sales strategy, particularly around new product areas and markets.

“I am delighted to welcome him back. His track record of driving sales of new products into new markets alongside his deep understanding of our channel make him ideal to head our business development team,” said Dodwell-Bennett in a statement.

In Perkins’ previous, nine-year stint at Steljes, he was business development director, and helped establish Smart Technologies’ interactive whiteboards in the market, she said.

This time, he would have a team of regional business development managers at his disposal to help grow channel sales, Dodwell-Bennett added.

When he left the distributor three years ago, Perkins went contracting at first and then took a sales role at Epson, focusing on channel and end user activity and all business product divisions, including projectors and printers, according to a spokeswoman from Steljes.

“His remit is to do the same [for us as last time], but for the non-education markets, especially corporate and healthcare, which we believe are the really big growth areas for Smart products,” the spokeswoman said.
