Double-Take asks VARs to take a second look
After two acquisitions in 2008, the vendor is keen to promote its full technology offering to resellers

Continuous data protection vendor Double-Take Software is touting its enlarged product range to the channel following an 18-month acquisition spree.
The vendor admitted its image has previously been skewed because it was perceived to be an ISV that provides limited software. However, it is working on its messaging to promote its full technology offering.
Double-Take acquired application recovery specialist TimeSpring in January 2008 to strengthen its offering in the virtualised and physical server space.
In July 2008 the vendor then bought emBoot, whose software boots multiple Windows and Linux hosts from iSCSI and SANs.
Ian Masters, UK sales director at Double-Take Software, said: “We are searching for new VARs and system integrators that want to sell additional software, hardware and services. Resellers are encouraged to visit their customers every six months and offer a range of professional services such as health checks.”
Double-Take has also announced a solution partner programme due to demand from ISVs.
Vendor BridgeHead Software has become one of the first to join the scheme, which enables resellers to incorporate Double-Take’s data replication and management products into their offerings. “We are adding more strings to our bow,” said Masters.
Simon Aron, managing director of VAR Eurodata, said: “We have had a lot of success with Double-Take and its channel programme is very well run. But, with a name like Double-Take, it tends to be seen as a replication software vendor.”
