Lexmark seeks inroads into public sector

Four new reseller packages aimed at breaking Hewlett-Packard's dominance

Printer vendor Lexmark has unveiled four new reseller packages following its recent initiatives aimed at breaking the dominance of Hewlett-Packard in the printer market (CRN, 27 January).

Lexmark is offering resellers rebates of up to £900 on hardware products, and training on hardware and software to allow them to solve specific document management problems.

The company is also reducing prices for its 1,200 accredited partners.

"The packages cover four distinct activities that businesses carry out," said Jane Cronin, director of SME and marketing at Lexmark. "With hardware margins limited, resellers need to be able to offer more than just products."

The four packages, Office Integration, Secure Printing, Forms on Demand and MFP Upgrade, are now available to resellers and offer different combinations of printing hardware and software.

Lexmark hopes the rebates will be particularly effective in the public sector.

Nick Culley, product marketing manager at distributor Midwich, said: "The printer market is buoyant in the public sector but organisations want as much as they can get for their money.

"These new packages will give resellers an additional talking point and margin opportunity."
