Computer 2000 revamps web ordering system

Computer 2000 has updated its InTouch web information and ordering facility in an attempt to boost online orders by 10 per cent this year.

Computer 2000 (C2000) has updated its InTouch web information and ordering facility in an attempt to boost online orders by 10 per cent this year.

The distributor has also introduced a free Web Store development service that allows resellers to download its up-to-date pricing and availability data for use on their own ecommerce sites, without having to buy from C2000.

The improved ordering system will allow search by product family group, and show related and compatible products. Products can also be viewed by category and searches can be saved on the site. Resellers will be able to check their credit status through InTouch and will be warned if they are approaching their current limit when placing orders through the system. Resellers will also be able to register returns online and track their progress, making it quicker to be reimbursed.

Christopher Miles, general manager of ecommerce at C2000, claimed the service is being updated to help the distributor boost its online sales from 25 per cent to 35 per cent by the end of the year. "This will save a lot of time and help resellers identify opportunities to sell other related products. In other words, it will help them make more money," he claimed.

Nigel Judd, general manager of marketing at C2000, said the company has teamed up with website developer Actinic to give resellers a "cost-effective way to set up their own web trading area".

Under the agreement, resellers can download C2000's product data and use Actinic's development package to set up a website that will provide "accurate and up-to-date pricing, and availability on up to 10,000 product lines", Judd said. He added that C2000 had decided not to lock in resellers because "where they buy their products should be up to them".
