Radware seeks out committed partners

New owner of Alteon wants only the cream of the channel crop

After acquiring Alteon, Radware intends to throw its weight behind a handful of skilled partners in application delivery – but some Nortel resellers have raised concerns over its pricing model.

Guri Geva, Radware’s regional director for the UK, north Europe and Israel, claimed Alteon’s install base were reassured by the product’s five-year support plans and 125- strong research and development team.

“Where it was allowed to stagnate under Nortel, we have put in significant investment,” he added.

UK distribution partners include Westcon for Alteon products and Computerlinks
and Sphinx for the traditional Radware kit, but all three will explore the entire portfolio.

The vendor is looking for about five UK partners for Alteon products and 15 for
traditional Radware kit. Geva said: “We are being selective and looking for
commitment and quality.”

Darren Boyce, chief executive of partner Proximity Communications, claimed product plans had been “received positively”.

“It appears the cost of Alteon support is that much more than Nortel that customers will look at alternative technologies.”
