Memory Plus boosts MBO with buying plans

Management buy-out followed by acquisition intentions.

Memory distributor Memory Plus is going down the acquisition trail to boost its business, following its management buy-out (MBO) last month.

The new management team at Memory Plus was on the verge of making its first acquisition as CRN went to press, and Dave Flack, marketing director, said it will be looking at further acquisitions in the near future to enhance the firm's business profile.

"I can confirm that we are in talks with another technology company," Flack said, adding that Memory Plus is considering a number of strategic partnerships, as well as acquisitions.

Wiltshire-based Memory Plus was the object of an £800,000 MBO last month (CRN, 21 February), with Flack, Jon Blows and Paul Norbery taking the helm.

The MBO was officially completed last week between the buy-out team and parent company Torridon, after more than three months of negotiations.

According to a statement by the new management team, future business will remain focused on the core competency of upgrade solutions. Complementary products will be added over the coming months.
