RS Components signs Amplicon deal
Industrial computers in refresh signing deal
RS Components has embarked on a refresh of its industrial computers and communications products by signing a new distribution deal with Brighton-based Amplicon.
The distributor will start by offering a range of Amplicon’s industrial computers, which include the Ventrix and Impact rackable and embedded industrial systems.
The firm will also stock a range of new data communications products, including the Icron USB extenders and data acquisition cards to UK and European customers.
“We pick our suppliers very carefully and have been impressed by Amplicon’s reliable product range,” said Julian Wood, market development manager for process, control and automation products at RS.
“We needed to refresh our range of industrial computers and data comms products and Amplicon has allowed us to do that. The decision to stock Amplicon says a lot about its reputation in the industry and our confidence in it as a supplier.”
Gina Citroni, commercial director at Amplicon, added: “Having signed the deal with RS we are now looking forward to working together. Using RS’s distribution channels will open up new markets for Amplicon. As such, this represents a significant step for our business.”
RS will be supplying Amplicon’s data communications converters and data acquisition cards. The Icron USB extenders are designed for environments where computers and peripherals need to be positioned further apart than USB’s limited five-metre radius.
Using a pair of Icron extenders, PCs and peripherals can be located at greater distances or even in different rooms.
Amplicon has also announced it is to sell the world’s first wireless USB 2.0 extender, the WiRanger, which can transmit data wirelessly up to 30 metres.
The company will be aiming the WiRanger at installations where point-of-sale equipment may be needed temporarily, or for extending the range of peripherals such as pointers or the PC mouse, to presentation and display equipment.
