Tech Data, known as Computer 2000 (C2000) in the UK, has strengthened its international operations by appointing Henrik Funch as senior vice president for northern Europe.

Funch, who joins C2000 from IT and banking multinational GE Capital, will oversee operations in the UK, Ireland and Scandinavia when he takes up his post in January.

Commenting on the arrival, Graeme Watt, European president of Tech Data, said Funch's experience within the channel as both a reseller customer and a hardware manufacturer in the Nordic region had been vital. "He has specific experience in key strategic areas of our business, notably in the outsourcing arena," he said.

The appointment follows the company's recent centralisation of its management structure into northern, central and southern European operations.

Gerard Youna, former managing director of Tech Data France, has already been appointed as senior vice president for southern Europe. C2000 said it expected to announce the appointment of a senior vice president for central Europe soon.
