Alcatel leads resellers to market

Vendor targets public sector with lead-generation programme

Voice and data networking vendor Alcatel is targeting the public sector with a lead-generation programme for its entire range of products.

Dubbed Reactor, the programme will feed tailored leads to resellers with relevant skill-sets via Alcatel's website.

A nine-strong team from IT telemarketing company Astute will generate the leads in three key vertical markets.

Paul Ballinger, Alcatel's director of voice and data channel sales UK, said: "The NHS, local government and education are the areas included in the programme because they all have e-initiatives and plan to spend a certain amount over a certain time. We have products that fit the needs of these organisations."

Ballinger said he chose Astute to carry out the telemarketing for Reactor because the firm is an expert in this field. He expects Astute to generate strong leads and increase sales.

Interested resellers will be required to respond to the leads within 24 hours and provide a progress report in two weeks if a lead is acted upon.

Neil Sturgess, managing director at Alcatel reseller Decorum, which does more than a quarter of its business in the public sector, said: "Alcatel's products suit the public sector market. We have sold particularly well to the NHS and local government."
