Simmons Magee banks on Digital
Reseller Simmons Magee has scooped a u1 million deal to supply more than 200 high-end Digital notebooks to Clydesdale Bank. The contract is to supply Digital's Hinote Ultra CT475 notebook to the bank's mobile branch managers. Simmons Magee is also providing installation and support on the order. Manufacturers AT&T, Compaq, Toshiba, and Zenith also pitched for the account.
Richard Kenny, regional sales manager for Scotland at Simmons Magee, said that Clydesdale Bank was an important customer for his company and Digital had chosen the best solution for mobile computing.
Clydesdale Bank business marketing and sales manager Eric Gunn said that the Hinote Ultra was the lightest notebook available, and that the bank needed equipment that its staff would be prepared to carry around with them.
'The last thing we wanted was equipment which our business managers were more likely to leave at the office or in the car because of a lack of true portability,' he said.
