CA tells partners to put their faith in eTrust
Security suite will generate services revenue for the channel
Computer Associates (CA) is gearing up to launch its eTrust security software suite, which it has claimed will generate services revenue for the channel.
The eTrust suite provides four main security elements: threat, access, identity management and a Security Command Centre. The latter provides a portal-based front-end, offering a single view of all security activity.
It is designed to work with the rest of the eTrust range, and to allow integration with third-party products.
According to Graham Titterington, senior analyst at IDC, providing an overall management view of the entire security effort within an enterprise puts CA ahead of its competitors, which have concentrated largely on managing single products.
Another strength of the product is its ability to build business information into its management console, allowing users to identify business-critical systems and to report on their level of protection, he added.
The suite provides resellers with opportunities to generate income by helping users to put security measures into a business context, explained Mike Small, UK security division vice-president of CA.
"We believe there will be enormous potential to add services on top," he said.
