Rocom's Carter resurfaces at Nimans
Ex-Rocom managing director takes up business development post at Nimans
Friends reunited: Carter and Niman are working side by side again after five-year hiatus
Former Rocom boss Richard Carter has rejoined Nimans after a five-year hiatus.
Carter was Rocom's managing director at the time of its £12.45m acquisition by arch rival Nimans last March. He then left swiftly to take up a board position at Rocom parent ATC.
But Carter began his career with Nimans in 1985 and stayed with the Manchester-based distributor for 20 years before joining Rocom as the new business development director in 2005.
Carter said the lure of telecoms distribution had proved "irresistible” as he took up his new post as business development director.
"The telecoms industry is in my blood and it’s great to be back,” he said. “My car almost drove itself to the office on the first day.”
Nimans chairman Julian Niman confirmed the distributor’s new-look management team is now complete following six months of planning. Other recent appointments include former Ingram Micro luminary James Perkins to the post of sales director.
Niman said the combined distribution experience of Nimans’ board now stands at more than 100 years.
“Added together there is more than 250 years of experience in the company which is more than any other competitor in the UK or Europe,” he said.
Niman also welcomed back Carter as an “old friend”.
“Richard’s first task will be to build a new communication department to re-establish our reputation of excellence recognised by ourselves, suppliers and most importantly our customers,” he said. “The key is to communicate to our staff and to our customers, past, present and future.”
