Auspex offers Brat to the channel

Nas server sits anywhere in an enterprise

Auspex has released its first entry-level network attached storage box exclusively to the channel.

The small, low-cost Brat server is designed to sit anywhere in an enterprise, and is essentially a cut-down version of the NS3000, according to sales director Garry Elliott.

"We have simply reduced the number of components, so we were able to keep the price lower. Partners can now go to customers with a competitively priced, entry-level product," he said.

Brat includes 500Gb of storage, which can be increased in units of 500Gb up to a maximum of 4Tb. It runs on Auspex's Network Data Management Protocol-based Turbo replicator software, and an operating system that permits file sharing across both Unix and Windows.

"We are dedicated to moving our channel forward, so we wanted a product that was just for the channel, with specialist channel pricing," Elliott said.

Ian Hill, product development manager for Auspex at distributor Ideal Enterprise Solutions, said: "Auspex is sometimes perceived as expensive compared with other players, but this new offering will give their resellers a product set to lead with, and help Auspex's customer base."
