New managing director for PC World Business
Interim boss Jerry Roest is 'honoured to have landed full-time role'
Six months after the shock departure of PC World Business (PCWB) managing director Derek Lloyd (CRN, 29 May), the position has been filled by Jerry Roest, who until last week was acting as interim managing director (CRN Online, 11 October).
Speaking to CRN, Roest said: “The original intention of PCWB was to appoint an interim managing director while the company interviewed candidates for the position. Once I got under the skin of the job I started to become more and more enthusiastic with it. I convinced PCWB that I wanted the role. I was interviewed along with other high-quality candidates and am honoured to have landed the role.”
As managing director, Roest will have overall responsibility for PCWB, Equanet, MacWarehouse, Inmac and MicroWarehouse in the UK.
Asked if all these businesses will remain stand-alone companies, Roest said: “PCWB consists of a number of businesses, and services a very wide range of customers. We’re currently looking at the best practices in each company and how to get the best from all the brands so that we can decide what is the best way forward. We have some very aggressive growth plans.”
Stewart Hayward, commercial director at rival WStore, said: “PCWB is our biggest competitor. I imagine there is a lot of overlap among the companies that PCWB owns, so it makes sense that some form of consolidation might take place.”
