A knight to remember

BT boss lands honour

BT chief executive Ben Verwaayen (left) was presented with a honorary knighthood last week by business secretary John Hutton for his services to the UK telecoms industry and for leading the rollout of broadband.

Dutch-born Verwaayen, who has led the BT Group since February 2002, was appointed a Honorary Knight Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire during a ceremony in London.
