WStore racks up a top 10

Online VAR outlines strategy on ten-year anniversary

Online reseller WStore is celebrating its first decade in business and is confident of a strong performance during its anniversary year.

The Surrey-based VAR was incorporated on 1 February 1999, with just five staff. Its headcount currently stands at 60 staff.

Tony Price, managing director of WStore, said the key to his firm’s success was sensible cost management.

“We survived the dotcom boom and bust where a lot of companies fell by the wayside,” he said. “We have not been excessive and have managed our cost base well.

“We downsized our headcount last year, but have recruited a lot of new and experienced sales people over the past quarter, many of them from our competitors.

We are confident that this year is going to be one of our best on record in terms of margin. We are lean and are starting to see new customers come on board.”

Price added that WStore will not be looking to grow through acquisition, preferring the organic route, but added that some firms will find the going tough this year.

“Some of our competitors have not been watching their cashflow and I think there will be a few small casualties along the way, which can only be good for us,” he added.
