Midwich loyal to Casio
Casio digital cameras will still be distributed through Midwich
Midwich has said that Casio remains an innovative and fast-growing brand
Specialist distributor Midwich has renewed its contract to resell Casio digital cameras.
Alistair Coyne, product manager at Midwich, said Casio is one of the most innovative and fastest-growing brands of digital-still cameras.
“Some of its more niche products will give our resellers a good margin opportunity in what is traditionally a busy quarter for the digital imaging industry,” Coyne said.
Midwich also sells digital cameras from Samsung, Olympus and Sony.
Tokyo-based Casio recently revised its full-year forecast, to 31 March 2009, to ¥580bn (£4.2bn), down from ¥630bn (£4.6bn).
The US financial collapse has slashed demand, Casio said in its latest annual report.
“In light of this and declining European currencies, along with an anticipated drop in prices in expansive businesses, including digital cameras, mobile phones and electronic components, Casio has revised its full-year forecast,” it said.
Financial instability is expected to cause further declines in demand, Casio said. However, timepiece, electronic dictionary and calculator sales are expected to remain healthy, the firm predicted.
