Ericsson rebrands direct sales unit
Damovo created to offer end-to-end solutions
Ericsson Enterprise Ltd, the former direct sales arm of Ericsson Enterprise, has rebranded itself as an independent communications provider, offering end-to-end IT products and global services.
The company, now called Damovo, plans to support voice, data, mobility, convergence, enterprise resource management, managed services and ebusiness technologies.
The Ericsson name has been dropped after months of confusion. Damovo, which stands for data, mobility and voice, already has more than 21,000 international blue chip customers and is currently expanding its vendor partnerships.
UK managing director David McKeigue said the company is evolving into a large vendor-independent systems integrator. "Although Ericsson's products currently comprise half of our global turnover, we are looking for new vendor partners. These will be finalised by the end of this month and will be data and software oriented," he said.
McKeigue was cautious about the future, however. "We expect annual growth of 20 per cent; expecting 40 or 50 per cent growth is crazy in the current climate," he explained.
Manny Pinon, sales and marketing director at Ericsson Enterprise distributor Norwood Adam, said: "The fact that the change has taken a while has helped Damovo because people have associated it with Ericsson. Now that it has changed, it will face more competition."
