E-touch shifts focus to specialist distribution

Firm's founder talks of move away from security reseller strategy

The founder of e-touch has admitted to performing an about-turn and morphing from a security-focused reseller into a specialist distributor.

Rakash Gupta, who originally founded security distributor e92plus with brother Mukesh Gupta, set up e-touch earlier this summer after parting company with e92plus.

Speaking to CRN, Rakash Gupta said: “We initially set up e-touch thinking we wanted to be a reseller, but knowing my link with e92plus I felt I was betraying the reseller channel somehow, and I’m sure most of them felt unhappy with the situation. As a result, e-touch will now be a trade-only distributor.”

Gupta said the company’s plan is to look for new niche products to bring to market. It has already partnered with anti-malware vendor Panda Security and mail security vendor PineApp and is looking for at least two further vendor partners.

“My history with e92plus shows I have experience of bringing new technologies to market and we are looking to grow the business quite rapidly,” Gupta said.

Steve Cornish, UK sales director at PineApp, said: “Rakash has a lot of experience in bringing companies to the UK and we are planning to be quite aggressive.”

Duncan Hume, director of the security division at Bell Micro, said: “The UK market has plenty of effective distributors servicing the market already and trying to be a trailblazer as a new distributor is not an easy thing to do. I wish him all the best in his new venture.”

Mukesh Gupta, managing director of e92plus, said: “Distribution is a competitive market, but if e-touch has found a niche then good luck to it.”
