Bruen to exit Westcon Security
Managing director resigns to start up her own channel venture
Bruen: I want to give a professional handover to my successor
Westcon Security has begun the hunt for a new UK managing director following the resignation of Kay Bruen.
After six years at the helm, Bruen is exiting the Check Point, Juniper and Blue Coat distributor to start her own consultancy business.
Bruen set up Risc Technology’s UK subsidiary in 2003 two years before the security distributor was bought by Noxs. Networking and telecoms distributor Westcon Group then snapped up Noxs in 2007 before rebranding the firm as Westcon Security.
Before that she worked for IT security distributor Allasso.
Bruen has committed to stay on at Westcon until a replacement has been found and stressed the split was amicable.
Her new services venture, Clipsham IT Limited, is set to launch in August.
She told CRN: “I plan to set up a services-based consultancy to service the reseller community.”
Clipsham will provide resellers with services around supplier relationship management, emerging technologies and supply chain efficiencies. Bruen is also developing a portal on which overseas IT vendors can showcase their solutions to the channel.
Westcon is currently interviewing for Bruen's replacement.
"I want to give a professional handover to my successor," she explained.
Laura Harman, business unit director at rival distributor Avnet Technology Solutions, said: "It’s a real loss for Westcon, as Kay is very well respected in the industry and a lynchpin for their security business. I wish her every luck with her new venture.”
