UK diversity spawns security deals
The UK's unmatched cultural diversity could create massive opportunities for the channel to provide value-added security services, vendor Secure Computing has asserted.
According to Mike Smart, EMEA product marketing manager at Secure, Britain’s cosmopolitan public, education and financial services sectors create more security challenges than anywhere else in Europe.
Smart said Secure’s technology was recently used to tackle a series of aggressive spamming and bullying incidents within the Korean population of Brunel University.
“Finding the source of the threats was one thing, but the context of the words used was a more complex investigation,” said Smart. “We need resellers who can buck emerging threats and that take a more consultative approach,” he said.
Rob Bamforth, principal analyst at market watcher Quocirca, agreed: “Wherever there is diversity, security is harder to maintain. Add the complexity of multiple legitimate languages and life is more difficult.”
