Morse has first crack at UK Microsoft Cluster Server deal

Reseller Morse has claimed it has won the UK's first Microsoft Cluster Server installation contract for SAP running on Compaq, worth £180,000.

Reseller Morse has claimed it has won the UK's first Microsoft Cluster Server installation contract for SAP running on Compaq, worth £180,000.

The deal is an endorsement of the new Microsoft technology and furthers the vendor's attempts to cement its place at the high end. Morse installed R/3 on Oracle using an NT-based Compaq Proliant.

The contract, between the value-added reseller and refrigeration and air conditioning equipment wholesaler Dean & Wood, will include a disaster recovery facility for the company's northern distribution centre in Leeds, which will back up all data from the company's headquarters. Dean & Wood is replacing legacy systems built on the IBM AS/400 platform.

Mark Gardner, financial director at Dean & Wood, said: "Morse was selected over other competitors because of its understanding of our technical and business issues. We have also turned to Morse Integration consultants to provide piece of mind about the security of our data."

Morse claimed the Microsoft Cluster Server will provide "maximum systems availability".
