F-Secure agrees WRQ deal
Security vendor transfers rights to its SSH technology
Security vendor F-Secure has transferred all rights to its client and server Secure Shell (SSH) technology over to connectivity software developer WRQ.
Under the terms of the deal, WRQ will take over all licence sales, maintenance agreements and technical support. The deal will allow F-Secure to concentrate solely on its SSH anti-virus and intrusion prevention business, the vendor said.
Nils Brauckmann, vice-president of sales at WRQ EMEA, told CRN: "The sales model of WRQ is 100 per cent committed to the channel. There won't be any accreditation process, and any VARs will be able to market the F-Secure range of clients and servers through WRQ."
Brauckmann added that he hopes the move will help to create up-sell opportunities for WRQ, marketing its existing Reflection product range and the F-Secure server and client range together, through both existing and newly recruited resellers.
Ian Kilpatrick, chairman of Wick Hill, a distributor of F-Secure SSH products, said: "WRQ will be supplying and Wick Hill distributing. The news makes no difference to us; we just go out and work with VARs and it doesn't compete with anything we do. But this is a good opportunity for the channel."
