Mark Chambers aims to raise £20,000 for Liberian humanitarian project

Ramesys chief executive Mark Chambers is championing a charity bash in May to raise money for struggling children in Liberia.

Together with his wife Tara who has given up her job at a software firm to concentrate on her fundraising activities, Chambers is organising a black-tie charity dinner at the Birmingham Metropole hotel on Saturday 22 May to help the country that has been ravaged by 20 years of civil war.

According to figures from charity Samaritan’s Purse, 1.4 million children die in Liberia each year, or one child every 20 seconds due to a lack of clean water.

The pair are looking to raise £20,000 to buy a 4x4 vehicle to transport clean water filters into the more remote parts of the Liberian jungle.

Chambers is no stranger to Liberia. Back in 2008 he and his wife went on a humanitarian aid mission to the country and both wrote a blog. The blog can be read here.

Speaking to CRN, he said: "The theme of the event in May will be World Cup related. Therefore we are asking anyone to donate auction prizes or just to come along to the event and help us reach our goal."
