CA joins web licensing scheme

Vendor becomes fourth to join distributor's Click2License initiative

Computer Associates (CA) has become the fourth vendor to join Ingram Micro's Click2License scheme, which allows resellers to buy software licences online.

Click2License allows VARs to quote, build and order multi-vendor, multi-programme and multi-product licence solutions through its online ERP system, IMpulse.

Following the deal, Ingram's resellers will now be able to obtain licences for CA's Open License Program and its Government Licence Program.

Terry O'Loughlin, CA channel distribution and licensing manager UK and Ireland, said: "We are putting more of our business through the channel.

"Click2License helps make it easier for resellers to interact with us and obtain licences. It helps CA increase its market reach. For resellers, sales will be easier and faster to complete."

Microsoft, Symantec and Adobe are already members of Click2License. Anita Lussenbu, European vendor manager at Ingram Micro, said Ingram is in talks with Business Objects and Veritas about adding them to the scheme. But she denied this could create rivalry between vendors.

"Licensing is done differently by each vendor," she said.
