Actimax set for 2008 growth

VAR increases services business to hit £7m revenue after winning Mitel SME award

John Massey: We will aim for a similar target next year, although the economy is a concern.

An increase in services is helping ambitious VAR Actimax towards 20 per cent revenue growth this year.

Managing director John Massey told CRN that the Basildon-based reseller’s turnover would top £7m by the end of the year. This marks an increase of at least a fifth on 2007’s £5.8m total.

“That is what we originally budgeted for, but in this economic climate we did not expect to achieve that level of growth,” he said. “We are targeting similar levels for next year, though the economic climate does concern me. But at the moment, we are bucking the normal trend.”

Massey also revealed that the percentage of Actimax’s revenue that came from services had risen from about 40 per cent two years ago to more than 60 per cent this year.

He indicated that he hoped to push that amount to more than 65 per cent next year.

“In the current climate, those repeatable revenues are very important,” he said. “Next year we will also be getting into fixed-mobile convergence in a big way.”

Actimax has enjoyed a fruitful year with its vendor partners in becoming an Easynet Enterprise Solutions Partner. The VAR also saw its Mitel revenue rise by 20 per cent, culminating in being named as the vendor’s top-selling UK SME partner of the year at its recent partner conference.

Mitel’s UK sales director, Enda Kenneally, said: “John runs a tight ship. He is living proof that focusing your business on vertical solutions and aligning yourself with a key vendor is a successful combination.”
