DMSL eyes hosted VoIP boom

Distributor overhauls fixITlocal scheme and promises VARs plentiful leads on hosted opportunities

John Carter: We are generating a huge amount of leads

Comms distributor DMSL is looking for resellers to branch into hosted voice over IP (VoIP) after bolstering its portfolio and overhauling its fixITlocal scheme.

Having been predominantly a BT house for many years, the Essex firm has added rival carriers Opal and Viatel in recent months. Through subsidiary Cloud Telephones, it also offers hosted VoIP from VoiceNet, and DMSL managing director John Carter claimed resellers should act fast to become involved in a buoyant market.

“For the next two years, this is going to be the sweet spot,” he said.

DMSL’s fixITlocal programme, which links end users with IT problems to resellers in their area, has also been overhauled. Since its inception, the scheme has been blighted by concerns over dwindling membership and modest call-out volumes.

Membership is now free, with Carter explaining the company is now running it as a marketing programme.

“We are generating a huge amount of leads and have recruited two new sales guys,” he said. “For fixITlocal resellers, we have some fantastic products.”
