NTL in deal to supply IP telephony upgrades
NTL Business to provide corporate IP telephony
NTL Business has joined forces with Mitel and VAR Bailey Teswaine to provide corporate IP telephony.
The vendor is also considering a future channel strategy of its own if the initiative is successful.
It will use voice vendor Mitel’s portfolio and Bailey Teswaine’s support capabilities to provide a migration path for corporate and public sector firms seeking IP telephony upgrades. The solution aims to integrate with existing infrastructures to reduce implementation costs and business interruption.
Judith Jackson, product marketing manager at NTL, said: “Mitel will expand our voice products and it has the flexibility to work with our customers, and Bailey Teswaine has a long working relationship with Mitel. There is a healthy pipeline of opportunities in IP, with a number of customers looking to move over.”
The move is part of NTL’s plans to expand its voice portfolio and Jackson also hinted at NTL’s involvement with the channel. “We are currently evaluating our routes to market, and part of that will involve reviewing a potential reseller strategy,” she said.
Will Waters, director of UK carrier sales at Mitel, which will provide its IP PBX portfolio, said: “We have a lot of heritage in telephony and have been able to deliver a migration that covers next generation applications. It is a significant deal that offers a route to market across the UK.”
Andy Crawford, NTL account manager at Bailey Teswaine, which has been working with Mitel for over 20 years, said: “We will supply the pre-sales, design and technical ability, the install and the support. We have seen the IP market growing and the NTL partnership is extremely complementary.”
