Iron Mountain seeks more partners in Backup Direct alliance
Backup vendor's Digital arm pledges to reach partner number peak
Storage backup vendors Iron Mountain Digital and Backup Direct have vowed to continue building their VAR network, following the recruitment of 11 partners in one month.
Iron Mountain Digital, a division of Iron Mountain, recently formed a two-tier channel programme, under which online data backup service provider Backup Direct acts as the service distributor for Iron Mountain.
Nick Cater, head of northen Europe at Iron Mountain Digital, told CRN that both vendors will now look to increase their partner numbers throughout the UK.
“We did not set a channel partner recruitment number, but we have set a target to get more focused VAR coverage across the UK,” he said. “We are looking to recruit as many VARs as possible that have skills in IT services: for example, a reseller looking to expand what they are currently offering to include online backup services.”
Within the first month of the channel partner recruitment drive the vendors have signed VAR relationships with Accelerator Business, Apoyar Networks, Information Mechanics, Systems and Solutions, AME Solutions, Greencorn, BSI, Genesis Group, London Central Communications, MK IT and Eurolink Technology.
Brett Raynes, managing director of Backup Direct, said: “This offers a business opportunity to the resellers whose customers rely on them for IT infrastructure and services.
“We’ve had an extremely successful start to the channel push, which we fully expect to continue throughout the next 12 months.”
Cater added that over the next year, the two vendors will also develop a range of channel partner support tools, such as marketing and sales support, which will be delivered to channel partners through an online portal.
