C2000 helps resellers to LOL

Distributor builds on web-based licensing ordering and tracking system, License Online (LOL)

A four-step process allows resellers to shop faster

The UK arm of Tech Data, distributor Computer 2000 (C2000), has announced additional functionalities for its web-based licensing system - License Online (LOL).

Launched in 2003, LOL was designed to make it faster and easier for resellers to find the right vendor programmes, build quotes for customers, and place and track orders through to fulfilment.

The new version of LOL has an updated interface that is similar to InTouch, C2000’s online product information and ordering system.

A streamlined process flow means resellers can now order software licences in four steps and navigation panes ensure the buyer can see where they are in the process at all times. It is also now possible to add to orders from all screens.

C2000 has also added an order tracking functionality with pre-defined reports. An advanced search has been added, as well as an interactive demonstration. All registered customers will receive a Quick Reference Guide.

James Reed, general manager software at C2000, said: “Licensing Online currently includes seven vendors and 11 licence schemes, ranging from Symantec Express to the more complex Microsoft Open Value Licence schemes. It is important therefore, that we make it as simple as possible for resellers to find the right licence program to fit their customers' needs, allowing them to focus more on the actual product sale.

“The enhancements we have made in the new release of LOL not only make it simpler, they also speed up the quoting and ordering processes. That means resellers can provide a better service to their customers on software licensing and ensure that they are making the most of all their new business and renewals opportunities.”

The addition of a Top Sellers section enables users to identity the most popular licensing products and add them to the shopping basket.

Reed said the four-step process and quick guide to the current top sellers speeds up the whole process of identifying, quoting and ordering licences, saving resellers time and enabling them to respond faster to customer requests.

Wolfgang Ebermann, EMEA vice president for small mid-market solution and partner group at Microsoft, said: “We welcome the investments and enhancements Tech Data is making to License OnLine. It will drive cost-efficiencies for resellers and allow them to better serve their customers with targeted offerings.

“It is key in the current market environment that Tech Data is enabling Microsoft partners to deliver a more accurate, timely and valuable service on the Microsoft licensing program.”

All the changes were made in response to reseller feedback. Last year, Tech Data claimed to have surveyed 4,000 of its regular LOL users as part of a continuous development programme.

Jason Ellis, vice president channel EMEA at Symantec, welcomed the developments: “These changes will deliver considerable and immediate benefits to our partners. These are industry-leading tools; and I am confident that partners who leverage them will spend less time on administration and more time with customers.”

The new LOL system will be available on Tech Data websites over the next few weeks.
