Yeoman calls time on career

Channel stalwart retires after 26-years in channel

Marlene Yeoman, vice-president and general manager of the northern region at distributer Avnet, announced her retirement last week

Speaking exclusively to CRN, Yeoman said she planned to depart from Avnet in December, although Colin Robertson, Avnet’s current sales director, will become UK managing director in October. “I’ll continue to play a supporting role until December, conducting in-depth surveys with staff and helping Colin where I can,” Yeoman said.

“The strategy has been planned for this year, which goes up until next June, and we already have first and second quarters under our belts. I am confident that everything is going well, and that the management team I am leaving behind is second to none.”

Avnet has left the door open for Yeoman to return as a consultant.

Yeoman has worked for various channel players over her 26-year IT career, starting at Macro Marketing and going on to Metrologie and Computer 2000. She has been with Avnet for over eight years.

Nick King, chief executive of VAR Apex Systems, said: “She will be very sadly missed. She has total integrity and understands the margin and market pressures that resellers go through. She has also always been a great advocate of the channel.”
