For the third time in as many months, a gang targeted the Wootton Bassett memory storage facility. But unlike the previous two attempts, the robbers were carrying at least one gun and other potential weapons, including crow bars.
The would-be raiders, driving a stolen vehicle, attempted to force the back door of the building, but made a getaway when they realised that security measures were too strong.
A representative of Wiltshire Police confirmed that a car chase along the M4 ensued, which resulted in eight arrests. Police believe the gang discarded their weapons during the chase.
Three people were released immediately on police bail after being eliminated from inquiries, and the five others were interviewed before being released on police bail to appear before magistrates on 29 November.
