Prim'X set for first steps in UK market

Vendor unveils plans for two-tier channel model with first distribution agreement due in weeks

French encryption vendor Prim’X Technologies is looking to establish a UK channel and is on the verge of signing its first distribution deal.

The vendor plans to establish a two-tier model in the UK to strengthen its presence in countries outside of its domestic French market. CRN understands a first UK distribution agreement could be announced in the next few weeks.

Serge Binet, chief executive of Prim’X Technologies, said: “We will be 100 per cent channel focused in the UK. In two years we hope to make half of our revenue from outside France.

“The rise of corporate espionage and cyber crime ensures the need for powerful encryption tools has never been so great. Criminals are increasingly creative in their approaches, even physically tampering with PCs to gain access.”

Binet said resellers will be able to add value through maintenance and product updates.

“Our product enables all data to be encrypted across the network. We are closing a gap that other vendors have not done before,” he claimed.

Binet said Prim’X is shifting the entire focus of its business through the channel, and that it is nearing a 100 per cent channel model in France.

“We have a strong partnership with Microsoft, which has helped us design our product and assess how the product works with its operating system,” Binet added.

Kay Eggleston, managing director of security distributor Noxs UK, said: “There is more demand for encryption so Prim’X could find a market. We get approaches from foreign vendors every week. A lot struggle because most distributors already have a portfolio.”

Eggleston added that the security market is crowded and only new vendors that can prove they have a “valuable niche product” will find success in the UK market.
