AV distributor Medium buys most of Beyondis
Consolidation continues across the communications and video channel
Medium means to broaden its hold on videoconferencing
Medium has acquired most of the shares in videoconferencing distributor Beyondis with the stated aim of bolstering its own chances in videoconferencing.
According to a statement, Beyondis will become a trading division of Medium.
Ian Sempers, managing director at Medium, said it had previously offered videoconferencing products to its resellers.
“But we haven't been very active in this area for the past couple of years. We see videoconferencing as an area of growth and we want to become a significant player in this market,” Sempers said.
Beyondis has a deal with LifeSize as well as some high-end add-ons that complement Medium’s current portfolio.
Kris Davies, managing director and founder at three-year-old Beyondis, said the acquisition would broaden opportunities generally.
“I decided that Medium is the right company for us because it has a great understanding of what is required to make videoconferencing a success. Medium's strength is in its reseller structure and its highly qualified field sales representatives, who know their products inside out,” Davies said.
Medium is continuing to seek companies to acquire, focusing on those similar and complementary to itself, with positive cash-flow and strong growth potential.
According to Medium, the Beyondis division will look at working with telecommunications and IT providers adding video for unified communications as well as education, corporate and public sectors.
