Find Me Stock stops charging
Online product sourcing service Find Me Stock has dropped its charges to resellers for 12 months, to try to win a crucial base of reseller partners in its first year.
Find Me Stock claims to display availability of all the IT in Britain’s main tier-one distributors.
On its February launch, the service was priced at £79 per month, plus a £99 installation charge for resellers. Just two months later, it is offering to give away the product.
John Atherley, co-founder of Find Me Stock, said: “We will lose a bit of money while we get people onboard. Once people try the system they will realise its value.”
The firm joins a niche that comprises two rival services: IT Dealer, launched in 2004; and Stock in the Channel, launched in April 2007.
According to Tony Myers, chairman of Stock in the Channel, “Our system is free forever and it is already in place, so Find Me Stock obviously had to rethink.”
But they could all soon face stern competition from emerging pan-European product sourcing site ITStock-list.com, which uses social networking technology and puts more emphasis on people and product data.
