Distributor outlines vendor recruitment plans for virtualisation drive

Computerlinks has confirmed it will sign further vendors as part of its plans to position itself as a major virtualisation player in the distribution channel.

The distributor announ­ced earlier this year that it would introduce a virtualisation-focused arm to its portfolio to help partners win business in the space.

The firm, which has a long-standing contract with Citrix, now has the Virtual Machine Company and Akorri on its books and plans to sign more.

Rupert Collier, virtualisation product manager at Computerlinks, said the company’s aim is to dev­elop a product stack that provides partners with the tools to tackle server virtualisation projects.

“The datacentre end is where the virtualisation technology is most established and where the bulk of the interest in it is focused,” he said.

Oren Taylor, sales director at virtualisation specialist distributor CDG UK, said: “The vendors it has are very strong and nicely cover the hardware and management end of the virtualisation story.

"Com­puterlinks should also consider adding more niche players to its portfolio be­cause it is such a fast-developing part of the market.”
