Dixons has made a series of key executive changes in a move that has highlighted the UK retail giant's growing international ambitions.
John Risman, formerly managing director of Currys, has been made international development director of the group.
In the newly created post, Risman's brief is to build on Dixons recent purchases in Portugal, Spain and the Nordic region.
John Clare, chief executive of Dixons, said the creation of the role was central to the company's mission to be in the top two of any market it competes in.
"These changes reinforce our ambitions to expand in continental Europe and beyond, while maintaining our dominant UK market share position. It is part of our commitment to improving shareholder value," said Clare.
Risman's role at Currys will be taken over by Trevor Bish-Jones, formerly managing director at Dixons. Gary Tubb, former marketing director at The Link, has taken over as head of airport trading, replacing Keith Jones, now managing director at Ei System, the Spanish electrical retailer Dixons bought in January.
Ian Ditcham, formerly sales and marketing director at The Link, has replaced Tubb.
