Dunne targets Websense partners for Bloxx
Smaller Websense partners in Pat Dunne's sights as he joins rival Bloxx
Dunne: It is very difficult for smaller resellers to do well with Websense
Pat Dunne will target the resellers of former firm Websense after taking on a role at rival web filtering vendor Bloxx.
Dunne has been tasked with spearheading a reseller recruitment drive for Bloxx, five months after exiting his role as senior director for UK and Ireland at Websense as part of a corporate re-organisation.
He claimed the UK-based firm, which is responsible for the ‘third-generation’ web filtering technology, Tru-View, has the credentials to make inroads into the Websense channel.
“Bloxx has very good technology in terms of its real-time capabilities, which it has had for longer than Websense,” he said.
“It is also a bit easier to understand from a licensing perspective.”
Dunne admitted that Websense’s larger resellers were off limits because they were “quite rightly loyal” to the vendor, but revealed that he is already in talks with smaller partners.
“It is very difficult for smaller resellers to do well with Websense as the larger ones have a hold on the install base,” he argued.
“The Bloxx products give them a differentiator to take different and in some cases better technology to their customers.”
