Panda prepares channel scheme
Panda to attract larger channel players with name change
Security software and appliance vendor Panda Software is gearing up for the launch of a channel programme next month as it looks to grow its enterprise footprint.
The vendor, which recently appointed Jorge Dinares as its new chief executive, is changing its name from Panda Software to Panda Security to attract larger channel players to its books.
Mark Watkinson, UK country manager at Panda, stressed that the firm will keep the Panda Software brand for its consumer products, but is looking to set up two separate strategies to deliver its enterprise and retail/SME message.
“The UK market is beginning to look at Panda Security as a serious player,” said Watkinson. “We are looking at the SME/retail channel as one block and will focus on one or two key distributors for that space.”
On the enterprise side, he said the firm is looking to recruit integrators and high-end resellers that will be supported by one key distributor.
“Jorge is driving this corporate focus because he understands the enterprise market,” Watkinson added.
Nicola Boswell, server product manager at Panda distributor Blue Solutions, said: “The anti-virus market place is very competitive. Panda has recognised that and is really pushing to win new business.”
