Acopia seeks partners for channel expansion
Vendor looking to grow adaptive resource network product sales with UK recruitment drive
Network storage vendor Acopia Networks is looking to strengthen its UK presence by signing channel partners.
Acopia provides adaptive resource networking products, which it has claimed helps customers handle data more efficiently on the network.
Phil Turner, director for EMEA at Acopia Networks, said: “We enable customers to manage unstructured data in global organisations. Unstructured data is growing at an alarming rate and the market is crying out for our type of products.”
Turner said Acopia is relatively new to the UK market, having only worked in the region for about a year.
“We currently have two channel partners, B2net and Posetiv, and we are in the process of signing others,” he said. “I would expect us to have between six and eight channel partners signed by the end of the year.”
Turner said Acopia plans to recruit more UK staff and appoint a channel partner manager in the future.
“We are providing VARs with training and full support, but we are happy for resellers to support their own customers if they wish,” he added.
Turner said Acopia has a direct touch sales team in the UK, with every lead fulfilled through the channel.
David Galton-Fenzi, group sales director of networking storage distributor Zycko, said: “Unstructured data is a big area and an interesting place to be. We signed with [rival unstructured data vendor] Isilon last year, and the relationship has gone well.”
Galton-Fenzi said the Isilon product has proved easy to sell, but most products on the market are struggling to deal with unstructured data.
“Isilon seems to be ripping a hole in the market,” he claimed. “We have not yet come across Acopia.”
