Magirus moots Nordic acquisitions

Following the buy-out of its enterprise division by Avnet, Magirus has hinted at its own intentions to start a shopping spree

Magirus has underlined its intent to acquire in the Nordics after appointing a new general manager to take the reigns of the region.

The pan-European infrastructure distributor has appointed Dennis Wøldike to the position of general manager for the Nordic region. He will replace current managing director Ole Eklund, who is joining Avnet as part of the distributor’s acquisition of Magirus’ IBM and HP arm.
Wøldike, who joins from Danish security and networking distributor IT2 Trust, has been tasked with building the business through a combination of acquisitive and organic growth.

The unit currently comprises operations in Denmark, Sweden and Finland, although Magirus has made no secret of its plans to buy in Norway (CRN, 6 August).

As part of Wøldike’s appointment, Magirus has created a new Northern Europe Region comprising the Nordics and the UK, which will be headed up by UK managing director Andrew Binding.

Binding said: “As part of the newly formed region, the Nordics team will benefit from a closer relationship with their colleagues in the UK. It is a key part of our strategy to leverage the strengths and skills of both teams to develop the new Magirus solution business model across Northern Europe.”

Wøldike said: “I am really looking forward to working with the ideas and concepts that Magirus have for value added distribution. We have a very similar view on valued added distribution, and with the expansion plans that Magirus have, it is going to be an exciting future for me and Magirus.”
