VARs empowered by standard

Netegrity supports ID-FF specification

Netegrity has added support for the Liberty Alliance ID-FF specification to its Universal Federation Architecture (UFA), a move VARs predict will boost demand.

The ID-FF specification has been added to SAML 1.1 and WS-Federation standards already supported by the UFA, to allow trusted partners to share information over the web and intranets.

"It's powerful in terms of what customers can do with it, and there should be a big demand," said Richard Mardling, strategic business director at hardware reseller Enline.

"In government there are different security silos, and it makes it a lot easier to pass information between them. Commercial companies want to take the cost out of business. If they can do that by easier communication with a trusted partner, that's what they'll do."

Netegrity has also underlined its commitment to expand on these standards and do what it can to support resellers.

Gavin Bradbury, Netegrity's marketing director for EMEA, said: "Two-thirds of our sales are touched by resellers in Europe. This can only rise because there will always be a lot of standards. We have good resellers and want to push this business to them."
