Tech Data buys three European distributors

Broadliner completes transactions in Spain, Portugal and Germany

Computer 2000 parent Tech Data has embarked on a spending spree in continental Europe, snapping up three local distributors in as many months.

The US-based broadline giant recently announced its acquisition of Spanish IBM distributor Compumedi.

But in the last 90 days, it has also gobbled up certain assets of broadliner Investronica’s Portuguese operation and Man and Machine's Germany-based Autodesk operations.

On top of that, the distributor announced it has expanded its mobile device venture, Brightstar Europe, by establishing a sales office in Germany.

Robert Dutkowsky, chief executive officer at Tech Data, said: “Our strong balance sheet is a differentiating asset for Tech Data and we are capitalising on opportunities to grow our business and strengthen our position in the European distribution marketplace.

“These transactions add breadth and strength to our organisation and reinforce Tech Data's position as the largest IT distributor in Europe.”
