Specialist integrator wins the latest CRN/Syscap Approved Technology Innovator of the Month award

Specialist integrator Majenta Solutions has driven into the number-one spot and won the latest CRN/Syscap Approved Technology Innovator of the Month award.

Majenta, based in Essex, has provided the Ford Motor Company Europe with a number of solutions in the past.

The car manufacturer called on the integrator's expertise again when it started looking at Network Appliance (NA) solutions to protect its data.

Majenta used NA storage devices with Enigma mirroring software to create the core of a system that provides block-level mirroring of seven terabytes of engineering data between Ford's Dagenham factory and a site in Germany.

Steve Kemp, of Ford's engineering support team, said Majenta improved security and cut costs.

"Majenta did a lot of research to find the solution that would suit us best. Majenta has given us equipment that met our needs and our budget.

"We had five or six different servers and this effectively removed all those servers and gave a significant cost saving."

In total, Majenta has supplied 42 terabytes of storage. It has also trained Ford support staff to swap out disks in the appliances, to save time while the system is running.

Clive Stedman, sales account manager at Majenta, which has more than 30 staff, said the company is delighted to have won the award.

"It was challenging when we started looking at the project because none of the technologies were being used at Ford. We have broken new ground and used the tools in the way they are supposed to be used," he said.

This year there are 11 monthly awards, and the winners will be in the running for two annual accolades that will be presented at the Channel Awards in November.
