Microsoft names private cloud vendor partners

Software giant outlines strategy and vendor alliances for private cloud platform

Cloud partnerships: Microsoft has joined forces with several high-profile vendors to deliver private clouds

Microsoft has unveiled the go-to-market strategy for its Windows server-based Hyper-V private cloud platform.

The software giant has announced that it will work with hardware vendors HP, IBM, NEC, Dell, Fujitsu and Hitachi Data Systems to provide infrastructure and services that enable customers to deploy private clouds.

This move will enable Microsoft to offer end users a choice of validated private cloud platforms that can be deployed quickly and with less risk, according to the vendor.

The platforms will also be available to purchase via Microsoft’s Hyper-V channel partners.

Brad Anderson, corporate vice president of Microsoft’s management and security division, said: “Many of our customers have told us they want the benefits of cloud, but with tight control over things like physical infrastructure and security policies.

“Our new private cloud offerings fulfil that need at the infrastructure level, while providing a clear migration path to cloud services at the platform level,” he added.
