ANS Group plays down crossover with Alpha

VAR's latest acquisition doubles its annual sales, but has just a five per cent customer overlap

Scott Fletcher: ANS can now offer Alpha's customers a much wider portfolio

ANS Group claims there is just a five per cent overlap between its customer base and that of Alpha, after buying the storage VAR for about £4.85m.

As reported on ChannelWeb last week, the acquisition roughly doubles the Manchester-based VAR’s annual sales runrate to £35m. It also makes ANS one of only two UK-based partners to hold top-level accreditations with both Cisco and NetApp.

ANS chief executive Scott Fletcher said: “The crossover of customer bases is very small as we have not locked horns with Alpha that much. There is only a five per cent overlap so we can now offer Alpha’s customers a much wider portfolio than just storage.”

Like ANS, Alpha has its head office in the Manchester region and one in central London. Fletcher revealed that Alpha’s 30 Stockport staff would migrate to its Manchester office within three months.

He stressed that ANS is also growing organically and put out five job offers last week alone.

“We have a full private cloud offering with Cisco UCS, NetApp and VMware and are winning more deals than we are losing,” he added.

Jonathan Pickering, managing director of Cisco Gold partner Block Solutions, said: “Like Block, ANS has recognised the trend towards datacentre consolidation and is targeting this area. On paper it looks like a good acquisition and should provide some new skills.”
