Accountz prepares for battle with Sage

Accountancy software vendor announces recruitment drive and prepares to take on Sage

Accountz has declared war on accountancy software giant Sage by appointing
the head of one of its competitor's partners to oversee its channel plans.

The vendor has previously sold its accountancy software direct to SMBs and home users or through high street retailers PC World, Staples and the Apple Store.

However, in anticipation of the launch of its multi-user software product early next year, Accountz is expanding its reseller channel over the coming year to include 1,000 VARs, bookkeepers and accountants.

Accountz recently appointed Mark Coplowe, head of Sage partner Cabsoft, to head up its channel strategy, which includes recruiting resellers from its rival's partner base.

Chief executive Suzanne Walton stressed its products are compatible with Windows, Linux and Mac operating systems.

"Mac PCs and Linux are increasingly popular with business users," she said. "But it is not easy to use Sage software with either because the software is designed for Windows."
