Shakespeare shows up at Norbain
Former Westcon boss unveiled as new managing director of physical security distributor
Westcon’s former European boss, Barry Shakespeare, has resurfaced at the helm of physical security distributor Norbain SD.
Shakespeare left Westcon abruptly in December 2008, alongside European financial director Jon Toohey, and has since been running his own management consultancy.
He has now been appointed as managing director at Reading-based Norbain, which specialises in the distribution of CCTV, IP video, access control and intruder detection equipment, and employs 290 UK staff.
Shakespeare replaces chief executive Alun John, who was acting as managing director pending the appointment.
Shakespeare said: “Norbain is a highly successful company that has built an enviable reputation as partner of choice for installers, end users and manufacturers alike across Europe.”
John said: “Barry brings with him a wealth of experience from the world of IT manufacturing and value added distribution. This combination of skills and experience will be critical in the development of Norbain's service offering as the IT and security markets converge. I am delighted to welcome Barry to the team.”
